PARIS, TN – During the Department Director’s meeting on Thursday, January 24, HCMC Administration recognized Tim Lee, Activities Director at Henry County Healthcare Center as Department Director of the Quarter.
The Activity Director is responsible for designing, implementing and documenting resident recreational programs that meet the physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual needs of the residents in accordance with state and federal guidelines. This is a big responsibility for just two people. Our Activities Department at HCHC has not had a deficiency during survey for many years.
While one may think finding an activity is just pure fun, finding activities that 80-year old plus people will enjoy and participate in is no easy task. This is exactly what Tim Lee does. It is invaluable to a facility to have the love and enthusiasm for every resident, staff member and for the facility itself that Lee displays.
Lee pours his entire being into his job at HCHC. From activities for the residents to his cooking skills that have won him MUCH love from everyone, Lee is exceptionally talented.
“I would be surprised if you had not been touched by Tim’s involvement with our facility – from Christmas gifts from the departments at HCMC to our residents, to the beautiful decorations each season of the year, but particularly at Christmas,” said Sandra Ray, Administrator at HCHC.
And – of course – the Grinch who actually made himself at home behind Lisa Casteel and Sandra Ray’s desks at Christmas and gained over 7,000 likes on Facebook for a video that was taken of him sharing his joy and excitement with the community.
“HCMC and HCHC are very proud to have Tim Lee as a partner and Director of the Quarter,” said Lisa Casteel, HCMC CEO.
A graduate of Henry County High school, Lee started his career at Henry County Healthcare Center as a Certified Nursing Assistant in 1996. His love for the patients continued when he transferred into the activities department as an activity assistant in 1999. When his predecessor retired in 2010, it was no surprise to anyone that Lee stepped up and took on the responsibilities of the director.
Since that time, Lee has implemented several changes for the activities department that has allowed our facility to grow with the changes in the culture of long term care residents. The patients of Henry County Healthcare Center are not the only people Lee has continuously served. He has dedicated his heart and time to the residents of Henry County by serving on numerous committees and boards such has Helping Hand, Relay for Life, the Salvation Army or by just riding around blowing “Grinch Kisses” to everyone in town. It should be no surprise to anyone that Lee has started teaching his grandson (Tevyn) on the wonders of showing love and support to our elders by bringing him to the facility to act as a little HCHC activities mascot.
