Paris, TN – The Henry County Medical Center Information Systems Department was selected as one of the winners of Healthcare IT News’ 2017 Best Hospital IT Department Awards. This year, they were first in the top five of the small hospital IT Department category.
Each year, Healthcare IT News accepts nominations from around the country of outstanding IT departments in the healthcare industry. The winners are chosen based on a points system awarded from an employee participation survey. High scores from that survey influence the chosen winners.
A total of 91 hospitals nominated their IT departments, and 20 were chosen as winners. Categories include Super Hospitals, Large Hospitals, Medium Hospitals, and Small Hospitals.
HCMC Information Systems Department just completed a nine-month Allscripts Paragon EHR upgrade project including moving to a remote hosting environment and just completed implementing a secure messaging application in November.
Pam Ridley, IS Department Director at Henry County Medical Center says, “I am so proud of my team for all of the work they do to implement, support and optimize our systems at HCMC, HCHC and all of our physician practices!”
“Everyone wants to do their best in whatever role they serve at HCMC,” says Ridley “Our leadership team is dedicated to seeing that this hospital remains a community hospital. Our new brand, ‘We Believe HOME is HCMC,’ reflects the culture of our organization. And we have a lot of technology, from advanced MRI machines to robotic surgeries to room service for meals. But you will overwhelmingly hear that the people are what makes HCMC a great place to work.”
Ridley offers this advice for those wanting to run a winning IT department:
“Communicate,” she said. “Not only about projects and things in IT – but every facet of the organization. Set expectations and goals and celebrate when they are achieved.”
