PARIS, TN – This year, Henry County Medical Center is proud to be a clinical site for the Clinical Internship Program offered to Henry County High School students who are in the career cluster for health sciences. This semester, HCMC has 12 students who will be rotating every four to five weeks through various areas in the organization.
The Clinical Internship Program is a capstone course and work-based learning experience designed to provide students with real-world application of skills and knowledge obtained in health science courses. Students have to be certified in BLS CPR and deemed competent in basic first aid, body mechanics, Standard Precaution guidelines and confidentiality in order to participate. They also have to go through an orientation at HCMC before beginning the program which will rotate through areas like lab, cardiology, and wound care.
“HCMC is pleased to be able to work with HCHS to offer this opportunity to students,” said Billie McKee, CHRO at HCMC. “We want to expose students to career opportunities at HCMC to help build our future workforce for the organization. This program allows us to do just that.”
HCMC is no stranger to offering educational opportunities to students, working with many schools to offer clinical rotations to nurses, physician assistants, medical students as well as training students in radiology.
HCMC also offers job shadowing opportunities and a Summer Junior Volunteer Program, with the parent meetings set for April 13 and 22. For more information on these opportunities, call our Volunteer Coordinator at 731-644-8267.
