PARIS, TN – In ceremonies to award service recognition on Wednesday, May 9, HCMC Administration recognized 80 people representing over 800 years of service for the organization.
Tony Fry, HCMC Director of Cardiopulmonary Services, was recognized as Department Director of the Year for going above and beyond for one of his employees. This employee wrote a nomination expressing her sincere appreciation for Fry for stepping in and helping her when one of her children was hurt and had to be transferred to another hospital. He helped to take care of her other son as well as worked many shifts for her while she was caring for her hurt son. She appreciated him not just being her boss but her friend and truly caring for her and her family.
“Tony’s commitment to service, people and patient-centered care are very evident qualities,” said Lisa Casteel, Henry County Medical Center CEO. “It is an honor and privilege to award him with this honor.”
Fry has been the Cardiopulmonary Director for 16 years at HCMC. He opened the Sleep Disorders Center 13 years ago for HCMC and helped to grow and expand it to 4 beds, obtaining his Polysomnography license at that time. He attended UT Martin and transferred to Jackson State Community College for his RT program. He worked at Humboldt HCA Hospital for 12 years as Director of Cardiopulmonary Services and trained in Cardiology with Dr. Thomas Frist, Sr. He also worked for HCA in Kentucky and was the Supervisor and Trauma Team Lead in Cardiopulmonary at JMCGH for 4 years before coming to HCMC. Collectively he has worked in critical care for 43 years.
Fry has been married to Belinda for 42 years and has one daughter. He enjoys all outdoor sports and activities.
