Paris, TN – Henry County Medical Center is proud to announce that Paula Bell, Director of Pharmacy was selected as Director of the Quarter at the August Department Directors’ meeting.
Bell was nominated by her pharmacy staff for all her hard work related to COVID-19 and changes in the pharmacy. Since her time as Pharmacy Director began, the pharmacy department has seen a multitude of changes such as new USP 800 guidelines, the switch from Accudose to BD Pyxis machines, IV room construction, and of course COVID-19. From reviewing blueprints and overseeing construction for our pharmacy IV room compliance to assigning medications and assembling all new BD Pyxis machines throughout the facility, Bell has worked tirelessly to make the transition be as smooth as possible for all partners involved.
She has also played a pivotal role in our preparedness for treating COVID-19 patients. She has spent countless hours researching new information and ensuring we have novel medications available to treat our patients. Bell even re-entered clinical care and began rounding with Dr. Carruth to treat our positive COVID-19 inpatients and provide insight on medication regimens. She leads by example and influences all of her employees to aspire to be better.
“Paula truly embodies our mission to provide the highest quality, affordable healthcare services and education to our patients,” said Anna Mayberry, one of the clinical pharmacists working in her department. “Paula is an exemplary director who is willing to go above and beyond for the care of our patients, for our pharmacy team, and for our facility as a whole.”
Bell along with her husband Jon are both from Paris. Bell received her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Alabama, where she played golf for four years. She went to pharmacy school at the University of TN Health Science Center in Memphis. Bell has worked at HCMC for six years after living in Memphis for 13 years.
Bell and her husband have two kids, Jon Carter (9) and Katie (6). She enjoys being outdoors, spending time with family, playing outside with the kids whether it is basketball, riding bikes, baseball, softball, or golf.
HCMC recognizes department leaders every quarter as well as selecting a department leader of the year at the annual Service Awards Banquet.
