Certified Pediatric Specialist in Physical Therapy

HCMC offers services from the only Board Certified Specialist by APTA in Northwest Tennessee and Western Kentucky.

Children’s central nervous system are developing at a most rapid speed from birth to age 7 years which allows learning and altering new brain connections to be made that will last a lifetime. At the Center for Wellness and Rehab our Pediatric Team consisting of  – PTs, OTs and STs – understand the importance of the unique adaption of activities needed to effectively treat pediatric patients when and how.  

Our Pediatric Certified Specialist provides:

  • Treatment from birth to age 21
  • Therapy in schools or in a clinic setting
  • Assistance with sensory processing
  • Help provide equipment as needed
  • Treatment of growth, motor development or any type of physical impairment.

Center for Wellness and Rehabilitation Sensory Room

    

Our team at the Wellness Center, also uses Sensory Integration to improve motor pathways with every child and include the family in their concerns and needs. Our goal with pediatrics, as with all of our patients, is to push and challenge them so that they will accomplish the highest level of function as possible. 

Certified Pediatric Specialist in Physical Therapy (PCS)

Having a Pediatric Certified Specialist at the Wellness Center is one of our specialties.  Pediatric Specialist are recognized on a National Platform with re-certification required every 10 years. HCMC offers the services of Debbie Jelks, a Certified Pediatric Specialist in Physical Therapy, for children whose physicians order physical therapy.

A Certified Specialist is a therapist who has passed a set of standards and testing that were set by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists. This certification assures the consumers and healthcare community of the clinician’s advanced skills and knowledge base in their special area of practice.

Pediatric Neuro Team

Our Pediatric Team consisting of highly experienced and Specialized PT, OT and Speech Language Pathologists. Our Pediatric team is available to treat any pediatric impairment on any level of any age.  We use our Sensory Room for our children with any Sensory Processing Disorders.
