She will provide tips and tricks as well as warning signs when stress is more than just stress and could be a mental health issue. May is Mental Health Awareness Month and our goal is to provide you with information and education to better handle any mental health issues you may have. Prevent Type 2 Diabetes Prevention Program

1 in 3 Americans has pre-diabetes and most do not know it. YOU MAY HAVE PRE-DIABETES and be at risk for type 2 diabetes if you:
  • Are 45 years of age or older
  • Are overweight
  • Have a family history of type 2 diabetes
  • Are physically active fewer than 3 times per week
  • Ever had diabetes while pregnant (gestational diabetes) or gave birth to a baby that weighed more than 9 pounds
Begins Monday, June 7, 2021 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. HCMC Private Dining Room Join us for the PreventT2 Diabetes Prevention Program and learn how to prevent this chronic health condition. As part of a PreventT2 group, you will work with a trained lifestyle coach and other participants to learn the skills you need to make lasting changes. You will learn to eat healthy, add physical activity to your life, manage stress, stay motivated, and solve problems that can get in the way of healthy changes. PreventT2 is a year-long program with weekly meetings for the first 6 months, then meetings once or twice a month for the second 6 months to help you maintain your healthy lifestyle changes. By meeting with others who have pre-diabetes you can celebrate each other’s successes and work together to overcome obstacles. Pulmonary Rehab Nutrition Class

Ever wondered if you are selecting the best food choices for your lung disease?

Henry County Medical Center’s Pulmonary Rehab as well as Food & Nutrition Services is offering you the opportunity to learn what to eat for a healthy heart thanks to the Paris-Henry County Healthcare Foundation. The class is limited to 24 participants and Pulmonary Rehab patients have first priority to attend the class.  Please, we ask you leave children at home.  The cost for this class is free. Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 Vaccination
7:30am - 9:30am
Henry County Medical Center will be providing Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccinations on Thursday, June 17 in the Private Dining Room from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.  Those wanting the one-shot vaccination are encouraged to make an appointment, but walk ins will be available while supplies last. Appointments can be secured by emailing Kelly Winston, Certified Healthcare Executive Assistant, at kwinston@hcmc-tn.org or you can call or text 731-336-6155.  Phone calls for sign-ups will be taken daily between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.  The following information must be provided when signing up:
  • Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Phone Number
Participants are expected to answer a few questions and remain onsite for up to 30 minutes of observation after receiving the vaccine.  If you have had COVID-19 within the last 60 days, you will not be eligible for the vaccination.  Also, if you have reactions to shots or have allergies, you should consult your primary care provider before proceeding to have the vaccination. Better Breathers Club

Better Breathers Clubs are welcoming support groups for individuals with COPD, pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer, and their caregivers.  Learn better ways to better cope with lung disease while getting the support of others in similar situations. HCMC and the Paris and Henry County Healthcare Foundation will be providing trained facilitators to give you the tools you need to live the best quality of life you can.   The HCMC Better Breathers Club will begin meeting every 3rd Monday of each month in the HCMC Cafeteria from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and feature educational presentations on a wide range of relevant topics, including:
  • How COPD affects the lungs
  • Breathing techniques
  • Exercise
  • Talking with your physician
  • Medications and other treatment options
  • Medical tests
  • Supplemental oxygen
  • Home healthcare
  • Lung transplants
  • Air pollution
