Chest Pain Center

You're experiencing uncomfortable pressure in the center of your chest. Is it heartburn? Or a heart attack?

Answering that question as quickly as possible could save your life. If you experience chest pain, or any of the other symptoms of a heart attack, you need to seek immediate medical treatment at the Henry County Medical Center Chest Pain Center or the nearest Emergency Room.

Fortunately, the HCMC Chest Pain Center provides the people in Henry and surrounding counties with quick access to high quality cardiac care. The Chest Pain Center's systematic approach and functional design allows physicians to assess, diagnose, and treat patients more quickly during the critical early stages of a heart attack, when treatment is most effective.

The HCMC Chest Pain Center is nationally accredited by the Society of Chest Pain Centers. The HCMC Chest Pain Center is currently located in the Emergency Department at Henry County Medical Center.

Know the Symptoms of a Heart Attack

The most common symptoms for a heart attack include:

  • Uncomfortable pressure, fullness, squeezing or pain in the center of the chest that lasts more than a few minutes, or goes away and comes back.
  • Pain that spreads to the shoulders, neck or arms.
  • Chest discomfort with lightheadedness, fainting, sweating, nausea or shortness of breath.

Some of the less common signs of a heart attack include:

  • Atypical chest pain, stomach or abdominal pain.
  • Nausea or dizziness (without chest pain).
  • Shortness of breath and difficulty breathing (without chest pain).
  • Unexplained anxiety, weakness or fatigue.
  • Irregular heart beats, cold sweat or paleness.

Not all of these signs occur in every heart attack. Sometimes they go away and return. But if any symptoms do occur, seek medical assistance immediately. Go to the nearest emergency treatment facility or call 911.
