General Information
One of the hardest aspects to cope with upon admission to a hospital is the unfamiliarity with the facility and its procedures. Hopefully the following overview will give a good idea of what to expect. It is only a brief overview, and further questions can be answered by staff members.
Telephone
When using the telephone in your room, there is no charge for local outgoing or incoming calls. To place a local call, first dial "9," wait for the dial tone, then dial the number.
All long-distance calls must either be "collect" or billed to your home telephone number. To place a long-distance call, first dial "0," area code, plus the number and a long distance operator will assist you in placing your call. Long-distance call cards are available in the hospital’s Gift Shop.

Gift Shop
The Pink Petal Gift Shop, operated by HCMC’s Volunteer Auxiliary, offers a wide selection of gifts and essential personal items.
It is located on the first floor near the main lobby. Proceeds from the gift shop fund health care scholarships, assist with purchasing needed medical equipment and support other hospital projects.
Vending
Soft drink and snack machines are available in the vending rooms, which are located on the first floor near the cafeteria, near the elevators and in the Atrium between HCMC and the Medical Arts Building.
